Thank you for visiting this webpage about our second “Digital Railway : Delivering Differently” Rail Industry Conference, held at the University of Birmingham during July 2018.
Delegates at the event heard about the Digital Railway strategy, which was launched in May 2018 by the Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling MP and Mark Carne, Network Rail’s Chief Executive, from Martin Frobisher, London North Western Route Managing Director, Network Rail, and Michael Flynn, Programme Director – Digital Railway, Network Rail.
With the announcement that all new trains and signalling will be digital or digital ready from 2019 the pace of modernisation is set to increase dramatically. The Railway Industry Association working in conjunction with Network Rail and the University of Birmingham hosted this event to explore what this will mean for the supply chain and examine the early plans for Digital Railway deployment in CP6.
Alex Burrows, Director of Railway Research and Education, and Prof. Clive Roberts, Director, Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education from the University of Birmingham explained how the university is supporting innovation in the rail sector.
During the Information Exchange sessions, experts provided their insights about the projects which are key to unlocking the future of Digital Railway.
