Group Director of Digital Railway, Jerry England, made the case for a modern data-driven railway at the IET’s 2015 Railway Lecture.
Watch Mr England’s address here:
The lecture, ‘the Railway Challenge to Jobs and Growth, set out Digital Railway’s strategy to accelerate the modernisation of train command, control and signalling in order to unlock the capacity needed to drive jobs and growth.
Jerry England said: “Britain looked to its Victorian railway innovators to create the infrastructure that unlocked the industrial revolution, it falls to this generation to build a railway for this digital age, that will drive economic growth today and in the decades ahead.
In every major transport sector – planes, trains, automobiles – digital innovation is unlocking new capacity from what’s already there. We have entered the age of digital capacity, and rail is part of this revolution too”.
