Chancellor announces £450m to trial digital signalling technology on Britain’s railways

In today’s Autumn Statement, Phillip Hammond the Chancellor announced £450 million to trial digital signalling technology on the rail network.
Among other infrastructure projects, Phillip Hammond told the House of Commons that there will be funding made available of:
“£450 million to trial digital signalling on our railways to achieve a step-change in reliability.”
Managing Director of Group Digital Railway, David Waboso said:
“We very much welcome the autumn statement announcement that there is to be crucial investment in digital signalling on the railways. We have long championed digital railway as an opportunity to transform customer experience by creating more capacity and improving reliability.”
